| Mary Braithwaite is an experienced GOPP moderator and
trainer, working in anglophone and francophone Africa,
Asia and Europe. From 1995 to 1997, Mary was part of the
Project Cycle Management Help-Desk and training team
working with the European Commission DG VIII. She
continues to work with DG VIII in the development of
methodologies for managing the project and programme
cycle, in particular concerning the integration of
socio-economic and gender issues into the design and
appraisal of interventions. A geographer and social
anthropologist by training, Mary has 15 years experience
in the field of local and regional development at
European and international levels and over 6 years as a
GOPP moderator and PCM trainer. She works extensively
with the European Commission (DGs VIII, V and XVI) on the
evaluation and assessment of development projects and
programmes (local development, rural development,
employment, vocational training,
) and on
methodologies and instruments for mainstreaming gender in
the management of the programme and project cycle. As a
GOPP workshop moderator, she has particular experience in
the areas of transport infrastructure, employment,
enterprise development and vocational training.
Mary is a dynamic and tough moderator, with an
excellent reputation for motivating participants and
producing concrete results. The quality of her workshop
reports is highly appreciated by her clients, who
include, in addition to the EC, the World Bank, ILO, SDC,
NORAD, GTZ as well as institutions and NGOs in Europe.
Mary Braithwaite has her own company, Tacitus sprl, is
a member of Engender asbl (a multi-national non-profit
association which includes several other GOPP moderators)
and also collaborates with other GOPP moderators and
trainers, in particular The PCM Group.
