| Charles de Monchy is established as an independent workshop moderator and trainer
since 1994, and he has built up a wide experience in assisting project groups. In Europe,
I conducted many planning workshops for project groups participating in European
innovation programmes like SPRINT, INNOVEX, ESN, RECITE, RITTS, etc. In Africa and
Latin America I have assisted project groups with the formulation of complex development
interventions. In The Netherlands I helped a large variety of groups and companies with
putting together project plans. I have worked many years as a development technician and
project manager, and I found out (the hard way!) that as technicians, we are easily and
eagerly trapped in providing solutions, while we do not always check the exact
requirements or the best delivery mechanisms with the users. Therefore, as a moderator, I
attach great importance to making sure the job gets done in all circumstances,
but I want to be sure that decisions taken are transparent and supported by all. I think I
am known for the ability to work at a high speed when required.
I have done quite some training of moderators for international development
organisations, and as partner of the Insight partnership I am involved in running
successful open inscription moderation courses for an international public.
Before independence, I worked for the project management training company
MDF in the Netherlands, where I was trained as a moderator, and got involved in the
development of all sorts of techniques for improving project cycle management.
My professional background is water management, and I have been involved in rural
development for 5 years in Mozambique and 3 years in Ecuador. I have mostly worked for
small-scale local development initiatives, from which I picked up the importance of
accurate and interactive project planning together with the users. |
